Tasting Notes

The Marselan grape is the remarkable offspring of two noble varietals, Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache. Gran Marselan™ epitomizes the best of both, combining the structure and elegance of its father with the richness and texture of its mother. This results in rich, ripe purple and dark fruits, accompanied by earthy and spicy aromas of leather, pepper, tobacco, and truffles. The wine retains a high level of acidity and features polished tannins for a well-balanced, enduring finish.

Technical Information
  • Alcohol content: 14.5% ALC/VOL
  • Total Acidity (TA): 3.43 g/L
  • pH: 3.74
  • SO2 total (Sulfites): very low 50 mg/L (reflecting organic sustainable winegrowing practices)
Winegrowing
  • Soil composition: Gravelly sandy loam with pebbles
  • Location: South of France, 80 miles north of Marseillan (the birthplace of Marselan)
  • Vineyard: Grapes are sourced from the two best blocks of the world’s oldest Marselan vineyard, with vines over 40 years old.
  • N. of vines per hectare: 4,000
  • Crop yield per hectare: 5 tons (a ratio similar to Hermitage or many 100% Cabernet from Atlas Peak, CA)
Winemaking Process
  • Handpicked, slightly overripe grapes to maintain high acidity and showcase organoleptic potential.
  • Hand-sorted with 80% destemming.
  • Grapes are softly pressed, with the first 5 days using cold maceration in a fiberglass-lined concrete tank, followed by 3 weeks of alcoholic fermentation at 77°F/30°C.
  • Malolactic fermentation and maturation take place in two-year-old 225L (59-gallon) Medium Long Toast oak barrels for 15 months before bottling.
  • This is an NV (Non-Vintage) wine, ensuring consistency and authenticity of the grape to deliver a true signature wine.
  • It can be enjoyed now with a slight decant. Let it sit for 45 minutes and start sipping by itself or with a light snack/appetizer. It also can be cellared for 8 to 10 years.
Serving Suggestions
Enjoy as a slow sipper on its own or enhance the experience by listening to "Nocturnes" by Chopin. The delicate, flowing melodies reflect the wine's rich, ripe notes of purple and dark fruits, while the darker undertones and emotive swells mirror the earthy complexity of leather, pepper, and tobacco. Together, they create a deeply harmonious pairing of elegance, texture, and balance.
